Lights OUT! Edition

Oh. My.

[WaPO]PG&E helped fund the careers of Calif. governor and his wife. Now he accuses the utility of ‘corporate greed.’

$$$,$$$ directly to PrettyPrettyGavin.
$358,000 to his wife’s “non-profit.”
The PG&E Corporation Foundation also gave $10,000 to the PlumpJack Foundation, a charity led by his sister, Hilary Newsom

I’m gonna hafta wait til this article spreads as it’s behind a paywall. Feel free to quote it in the comments if you can see it.

I grabbed these random quotes off gloogsl:

“Like many individuals and businesses, PG&E participates in the political process,” Ari Vanrenen, a spokeswoman for the company, said in an emailed statement.

PG&E holds itself to the highest standards of public disclosure and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.” [while lobbying like it's their job to shape the "laws and regulations" in their favor]

The contributions illustrate Newsom’s ties to the company … …this month, [PrettyPrettyGavin] said the money has never affected his decisions in office.

PG&E spent $5.3 million on state and local political campaigns in 2017 and …

Some of this has been covered before — not ‘xactly a Big Secret, eh?

[FOXBusiness - 10/28/19] ABC10 asked Newsom about accepting PG&E money [$208,400] following the corporation’s 2016 conviction for six federal felonies.

It’s a strange question,” Newsom told ABC10 this summer. “I don’t know what more I can say.”

*blink*blinkblink*

[FOXBusiness - 11/12/19]
PG&E’s philanthropic branch gave $358,000 to Newsom’s wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s nonprofit the “Representation Project” ["a gender watchdog organization which releases her films to 'challenge limiting gender stereotypes and shift norms.' "] between 2011 and 2018

Bet your ToxicMasculinity™ you will like this!

PG&E was probably told something along the lines of, “Nice business you have there” and they were stupid enough to think they could buy off government.

I’m in the wrong business. I need to start a non-profit charity to fund my retirement.
