Kung Flu Edition

*runs in circles hollering*

COVID-19: Approximately 102,472 cases worldwide; 340 cases in the U.S. as of Mar. 7, 2020.

Flu: Estimated 1 billion cases worldwide; 9.3 million to 45 million cases in the U.S. per year.

That’s known cases in the US; this virus effects some [many?] people with mild sniffles which means there is no way to know.

COVID-19: Approximately 3,491 deaths reported worldwide; 14 deaths in the U.S., as of Mar. 7, 2020.

Flu: 291,000 to 646,000 deaths worldwide; 12,000 to 61,000 deaths in the U.S. per year.

But I guess no one has ever been penalized by over-reacting to a “crisis,” eh? Not media — there’s bucks in them thar fearmonging. Not .gov — there’s increased budget line items to be had. Not to mention the endless series of hobgoblins to “battle.” [Mmmmm.... Yummy power...]

So there’s that. And on top of it all comes my peeviest of pet peeves:

DO NOT tell me to use my clothing as a handkerchief.
[I threw up a little just writing that.]

Yet, that seems to be official US CDC policy — “use your clothing as kleenex” — and I’ve found no way to talk sense to people about it. Which is puzzling in that these are the same people who think that smelly anti-bacterial goop will keep them safe from a virus.

This spring I think I shall shy away from human contact all together, certainly the literal kind. Not so much out of fear of disease: it’s the *oog* factor of snot-sleeves. *shudder*
[s'not funny!]

Science is dead. Science remains dead. And we have killed it. What water is there for us to clean ourselves?

    [raises hand, waves it vigorously]
    Ooh, ooh! I know, Claire!
Let’s all move into big cities with communal living and common air-handling, water, and sewage systems and guys who come around with carts to haul-off the dead

Just remember the words of Rahm Emmanuel shortly after Barky was sworn in:

Never let a good crisis go to waste!!

The hubbub over the Coronavirus is nothing more than the democrats a.k.a. the Adversity Pimps, plying their trade.

    On the plus side:

Former Iranian ambassador to Syria and a hostage-taker of U.S. diplomats, Hossein Sheikholeslam, died Thursday from a Covid19 infection, local news outlets report.

Coronavirus hysteria is an attempt by the media to remain relevant and get President Trump.

They are massively failing and flailing.

Went to my doctor’s office last week (not dead yet, not even close, but needing maintenance.) Noted the following: used grocery store-type virus masks (yes, plural,) tossed on the ground in the parking lot. And cigarette urns and trash cans, where used tissues were tossed in the general direction of said receptacles with no care if they ended up in the cans or on the ground.

C’mon, people! Some poor shmuck is going to have to pick up after you. Even janitors and cleaning ladies don’t want to share your deadly virus. Pick up after yourselves!
