In NH, when I lived in Portsmouth in my early 20s, a bar had to be a members club or serve food.
Clubs would sell you a one night membership or a longer membership for more.
I knew a lot of gay guys so was a member of a gay bar, the Pit was its nickname, I think the official name was Members as I recall.
I played pool all night, beating the competition, and meeting girls was very easy as the night progressed, as I was the only straight guy in the bar.
It was ok but I avoided weekend nights and only used the bathroom once. The first because I didn’t like my butt being grabbed in a crowded bar and the second as bathrooms were not used as bathrooms.
I will say I became very comfortable and sure of my sexuality at this time. I was the subject of certain rumors but didn’t let it bother me
Other, ‘straight’ guys were less comfortable and very less sure.
“I’m straight” usually met the response, “I’ve heard that before honey.”
It was an interesting time in my life and very enlightening.
I will say homosexuals were far less uptight than today.

I quit watching James Bond movies with craig, after somewhere around 2009. He was being interviewed for something, and while I can’t remember the context, he made the most sycophantic comment I’d ever heard a hollywood type say – he said, obama was the real 007, or something to that affect.
    I’ve never watched him again.

Before picking up a lady in a gay bar consider doing a Crocodile Dundee style package check.
