  1. Yeah, well I can speak a short hand sign language too: Look! Just one finger is raised! Does that make me a constitutional law professor?

    (further contemplation)

Shorthand: that’s probably what that other judge was speaking too, when he demanded that three page position paper from Justice.

    (further contemplation)

Y’know, I think he just said that ordinary people are too stupid to understand plain English, which is what his short hand sounded like to me.

  2. I caught his gist the first time.

The mask seems to slip with alarming frequency lately.

  3. “I’m not a crook, I’m not a commie, I am a Cristian.” If you haft to say it.. Just saying. If he needs to have someone tell “the little people” what he meant maybe there is something more to it. Like Obobo did not clearly understand when “We the people” told him NO! to his bolshevik.

  4. It would take about the same amount of time to say it in longhand if he would just skip the “uhs” and pauses between every other word.

  5. We are unworthy.
Since he cannot possibly have misspoke,
it is we who are at fault for not understanding.
    Yes, it must be so.
Why… why didn’t we see it?
    We are sooo unworthy.

Well, either that, or he’s a total jackass.

  6. The White House Press secretary and the press room have become a stage setting for a *Cartoon Show*.

For those of us who are now at a “distinguished age”, this example will ring true:
Carney is on stage, wearing a cowboy outfit (sans: hat…). His face has been painted with freckles. He has strings attached to his head, hands and feet. Just offstage next to him is Attorney General Holder, also in a cowboy outfit (with hat…) and is referred to as “Cowboy Eric”. In front of the stage are all the reporters, in what is referred to as the “Peanut Gallery”.

Yesterday, Carney told the Peanut Gallery that OBoBo had said, “FUCK the Supreme Court!” The reporters dutifully reported it. Which set off a torrent of negative press for OBoBo!!

Soooo, on today`s cartoon show, Carney and Cowboy Eric have a conversation about it (…with Carney dancing up and down and waving his hands…) Cowboy Eric says to Howdy Carney, “Explain to the Peanut Gallery what the president meant, okay?” Carney than says that OBoBo used ****shorthand**** talk as a law professor, but what he really meant was
“Follow Unconditionally Court Knowledge of the supreme court!”

The Peanut Gallery reporters all cheer, clap and happily file their reports…

  16. Professor Senior Lecturer [96-04 during which time he taught three courses per year]

Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track.*

“Shorthand” “Dog Whistle” … just keepin track, here, Boss…

  17. Not understood because he is a law professor.

Something wrong with that profession, then. Must be hard to teach people if you are tough to understand.

  18. Melissa would that have something to do with his short hand? Or does it matter which hand he uses?

    Comment by geezerette — April 6, 2012 @ 1:35 pm

  19. That’s surely a testament to Obama’s brilliance. I mean, he actually knew about Lochner[*].

I always wondered what happened to Baghdad Bob. He’s resurfaced as Jay Carney.

“… because he is a law professor …”

I don’t think so. Right now he’s trying to hold down the Presidency, and he’s not likely to give classes. Here’s a howler:

“… March 30, 2007 , fundraiser when he said, “I was a constitutional law professor, which means unlike the current president [Bush] I actually respect the Constitution.”

I’ll give him a mulligan on that one, and consider “professor” as merely a humorous title, like Jerry Colonna on the Bob Hope show.

[*] Lochner v New York was a 1905 case, and has very little to do with the current case.

  21. merely apply the magic “shorthand” qualifier, throw in the “law professor” imprimatur, and voila, problem solved.

    Next question.

  22. He spoke in shorthand…which would be fine, if he’d think in longhand.

And I don’t get it – why do they keep leaving Jay’s surname (Barker) off after ‘Carney’?
