  1. Long Beach is such a neat place.

  2. Oh, Deer. =)

So no phone to get DSL or even dial up? Yikes.

Is there a home or business within line of sight that you might set a wireless link with? There’s some neat new tech for that over good distances. I still don’t have enthusiasm for consumer satellite yet, way too expensive and unreliable.

How’s the 4G phone coverage out there? I can use my phone as a hotspot or tether it to the computer as long as there is a signal. . .

Way beautiful but where’s the mud wrestling pit? Is that carpet on the deck?

  5. Corgis are herding dogs by DNA. The deal is, once The Asylum meets specs, train Rummy & Smurf to head out into the thicket each morning and learn to *herd* a few deer back to the pasture yard, each morning. Git the deer used to getting a few rotten apples (…or rotten bananas; which MY deer fucking love….) until it becomes habits for dogs/deer.

Why? You got “meat” on the hoof for them emergency times! Plus deerskin for jackets/gloves/breeches/Thongs and head gear. Deer horns for knife handles, bones & leavings for dog food, PLUS *reindeer* ona roof for Christmas!!!!! (…not to mention, guts for lobster/crab traps, which you can harvest using the “Asylum Dinghy Schooner”. Jist like the Kennedys……… ) Sans bootleg whiskey.

  8. Corgis are NOT herders. They’re MIGHTY STEEDS for the Fairies.

  9. I’m good – whereabouts is your vacation spot? Is that a river I see?

  10. I had two of those giant Corgis in my yard yesterday. Finally a bunny rabbit chased them off.

  13. What I use away from home is a 3g MIFI device. It’s about the size of a half-Hershey bar and it makes you a wireless hotspot that can bring internet to 5 devices. I use it for the iPod and a laptop when traveling. I’m going to be using it a lot this summer…I bought an old mini-motorhome 2 hours ago and they just drove it here for me.

It’s rough and rustic…not sure if I’ll glam it up or just use it as is.

  15. What about night critters?
Anything with glowing eyes and stuff?

I’m with you on the unforsook thing.
I’m up on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a few days of quality Harley time before Memorial Day.
Nothin’ internetty until I check into a motel in the evening and finish a butt-massaging jacuzzi and therapeutic ribs-snarfin’. Then it’s slow and on a tiny Gateway half-pint thightop with a 10″ screen and no PhotoShop.

  16. I feel a need to mention something. Headmissy lives among Lympian and Libtard Bots! Accordingly, THE PORCH should be mindful that “speculation” as to the area where the Asylum might be located, ain`t. wise! Kapich?????

  17. Kapisch, Colonel.

You’re right. There are certain retards who would, and probably are, as I write this, searching desperately for the location, and I have given them many hints.

It looks more like Boise, anyway. Notice there’s no “beach” in any of the photos.

  20. Pebbled concrete? Very cool and easy to maintain. That will be great for beverage spills and BBQ sauce drips, Just hose it off under our chairs and we can put our feet back down.

  22. geezerette — Reacher!!!!!! I got hooked too. What fun!! Gotta start at the beginning, tho and head on thru in order. He goes into some pretty dark stuff occasionally, but I pushed on and was glad I did.

[Thank heavens for the Amazon 1¢ used books!! With 'shipping' they only cost $4 apiece and are not all that 'used'!]
