  1. It takes a village,
    or polygamy.
Maybe you should be able to fill out a form to choose your parents.
Maybe you should be able to write yourself into their wills, too.
(Some legislators need rail transportation, right after their tar&feathering.)

  7. Well, if a person is attracted to girls AND guys, wouldn’t disallowing marriage to both be discriminatory and racist?

  8. Leno thinks this will get him a TV gig at 11:00 pm.
He’s not funny though. Just an asshole.

  9. Proving to me for the billionth time: “California, The World`s Largest Open Air Insane Asylum!” {…no disrespect to THE ASYLUM, intended…}

  10. Lookin’ forward to the first “line” marriage… and other, more esoteric, arrangements.

  11. This is just the first step, folks.
They’ll first change the law so that kids can have multiple parents.
Then they’ll define what makes a person eligible to be a parent.
Then they’ll add the “right to good parents” laws.
Then, when, magically, cases arise where a child has no “qualified” parents, who do you think they are going to suggest raises the child?
It’s what they’ve been heading towards for a long time now.

  14. Why do gays hate Ozzie and Harriet so much?

    Comment by SteveHGraham — July 2, 2012 @ 12:59 pm

  15. ^Just the evil ones.
People who didn’t have Ozzie & Harriet growing up, don’t have it now, and believe they have no hope of ever having Ozzie & Harriet need to ridicule and hate the Ozzies and Harriets to feel better.

    Comment by Paladin — July 2, 2012 @ 1:13 pm

  16. As is typical, up here the specimens who championed queer nuptials absolutely refused to even discuss the idea that polygamy would be next. “That’s ridiculous, you HATER!!”

(My retort was “what about incest?” Only two involved there …..)

So yeah, this doesn’t surprise at all.

    {…no disrespect to THE ASYLUM, intended…} – Col J

Reminds me ….. did the idea for the name of The Asylum come from Douglas Adams?

  17. Mom1, Mom 2, Mom3, Mom4, Dad1, Dad2, Dad3, and Lester the Chimpanzee.

Wait! Chimpanzees are illegal in California. For now.

  18. The genders and marriage issue is different. This is about opening the door for the government to be officially declared the parent/guardian of a child.

  19. This all got started with two lesbians having a spat.

    No, really.

  21. Google “gay lesbian ‘ozzie and harriet’” and see what comes up. I am not kidding. They HATE Ozzie and Harriet.

And what’s with the Fifties reference, anyway? How many Americans know who Ozzie and Harriet were?

    Comment by SteveHGraham — July 2, 2012 @ 4:36 pm

  22. I honestly have never seen Ozzie and Harriet … and I’m old!

    Comment by PeggyU — July 2, 2012 @ 7:12 pm

  23. Ozzie and Harriet WERE “born that way”.

  25. COL Jerry (#9): The state isn’t an asylum. We round up all our real loonys and put them in the Home or the Incurably, Positively, Completely Insane.

Also known as the State Capitol.

Caged Insanity (#11): Remember the old saying about things like “to live a long time, choose your parents carefully”? The inmates lawmakers in Sacramento have just made this possible.

    Typical future family dialog:

KID: Aw, mom, please can I go out and play?
MOM: Go ask your other mother.

They may hate Ozzie and Harriet, but to make up for it, they just luuuuurrve Judy Garland.

    Comment by ZZMike — July 3, 2012 @ 4:58 pm

  26. Why just human parents.

No doubt people, in such as California, be marrying animals or themselves or into polygamy or polyandry.

How about some visit time for Fido? Or the ‘sheep next door’.

Or he can say, ‘Hi dad dad dad dad’ as he is dropped off to one of the husbands of the polyandrous woman.

You see where all this is going, right? Hell might as well all be test-tube babies and the government raises them like chickens (or maybe that is the way they want it to go.)
