    A “gangster gat”, fer sure.

  2. Though excellent/reliable pistols, Glock’s are fugly (functionally ugly)

    Comment by MSgt — July 3, 2012 @ 9:17 am

  3. They work fine, last a long time, and when you pull the trigger, it goes “bang.” But they don’t spin my prop like owning guns that were once pointed at me. (Makarovs, CZ-50/70/82s, Tokarevs, etc.)

  4. i’ll keep my S&W .41 mag thanks, from the days when fire power was measured in foot-lbs at the muzzle, not rounds in the mag

  5. 16th century Blunderbuss?

That’s Dutch for “Thunder Pipe”, BTW. Good for repelling boarders.

  6. Big Allen West fan, we served together in a few places and I liked him back then, I like him more now. My one issue is 9mm? Come on Allen, 9mm is a sub-caliber training round for a .45 or .357.

  7. Whell, Glocks may not be attractive, but, they sure are fat! So there`s that….

    Comment by Colonel Jerry USMC — July 3, 2012 @ 10:16 am

  8. 1911 Remington Rand .45. It says “I Love You”, much more strongly than a Glock 9…..

    Comment by Wollf — July 3, 2012 @ 10:47 am

  9. Glock = utterly reliable, rugged pistol, but regrettably, when I pick one up, I feel like I have to rearrange my hand to hold it and pull the trigger.

  10. I should hope Col. West is in the short list of Romney’s VP choices. The campaign is gonna need a set of balls.

    Comment by MikeG — July 3, 2012 @ 11:02 am

  11. I’m not feeling much GLOCK love here. My 17 and 19 are fine, reliable weapons. My ol’ friend Mike Hendrix over at coldfury.com calls ‘em Tupperware. meh. To each his own. I also got a S&W .380 BodyGuard for those up close and personal encounters.

  14. West is a great man, the problem is that we don’t just need a guy like him as president. We need many men and women like him in congress as well, and in the Supreme court.

  16. I’m still roaringly pissed about how Roberts bent over for the left.

we need to remember that he was appointed because he was one acceptable to the commie weenies in the Senate, not because he was the first choice of Bush.

This underscores, yet again, the importance of having a conservative congress.

You’ll also notice how there’s not a peep from ANYONE about how Kagan should have been recused because she served as Solicitor General when the rape of The Constitution known as Obamacare was being written behind doors closed even to Congress.

    Pissed ain’t the word.

    Enraged fits much better.

    Comment by JoeBandMember® — July 3, 2012 @ 11:45 am

  17. ^JBM – Kagan should have been recused
True enough; I keep hoping she’ll be impeached for lying to Congress during her confirmation.
However, even with her out, the vote would have been 4-4 and left the law standing.

Comment by dick, not quite dead white guy — July 3, 2012 @ 12:29 pm

  18. Nothing against Glock, just don’t like the grip angle. And I’m no fan of plastic and polymer so much. I’d vote for Mr. West but I’d vote for most anything other than the one. He will be TDL (the dark lord) if he wins again, I say dark because we may not have power enough to run the lights after they outlaw coal completely.

    Sweeeeet!
Here’s mine, a 1916-commercial, so it isn’t a beat-up issue piece — only has holster wear and came with four boxes of WWII-issue ammo with 20-rnds gone. I bought it from a WWII-Korea artillery officer, and he bought it from an officer when he was commissioned, so I’m guessin’ it was originally an Academy-graduation piece. Dunno, and I ain’t payin’ Colt to find out. Don’t really care.

I don’t have pics of my carry pieces, ’cause I’m here, and my camera’s there. Okay, that’s good-enough reason to make one more movin’-trip tonight.

  22. I hate to toss the race card on the pile, but VP candidate West would cause the MSM to have their heads explode.
After all, you’re not black if you aren’t on or a supporter of the government plantation.

Apart from the distress for the commie bastards filling sheeple’s mush minds with fill dirt, I don’t give a rat’s ass about the color of a man’s skin. A good man is a good man.
When a man starts talking about the color of his skin as if it matters, it’s a sure sign there are character flaws hiding behind those curtains of color he’s hanging.

    Comment by Brad — July 3, 2012 @ 5:27 pm

  25. As a student of history, Rep. West must know that most of the gun laws of early Americn states dealt with requiring able bodied men of a certain age to equip themselves with a firearm, powder and shot.

Those who objected as a matter of conscience were subject to a tax in place of spending their money on arms.

THAT has much better historical precedent than the PPACA.

    Comment by Brad — July 3, 2012 @ 5:36 pm

  26. Sure would like to have a hundred more Allan Wests in Congress, esp. in the Senate.

Comment by dick, not quite dead white guy — July 3, 2012 @ 5:40 pm

  27. I admit that the Glock is one ugly gun. Never did strike my fancy until a friend brought one to the range and I shot it. It fit’s my hand like a glove and I like how simple it was to work, went and bought a Model 19 two days later.
I always tell new shooters “don’t buy what someone says, buy what you like, what fit’s your hand, something you can hit with”.
Yea, I got a Glock and I love it. But I also have two .45′s.
I keep one .45 close to the bed every night. If I can only get one round off I want it to count. Thank you Samuel Colt.

  30. Wollf, is that a H.H. Heiser holster for that SAA?

    Comment by rickn8or — July 3, 2012 @ 8:15 pm

  31. Call me a faggot, but I like the .38 Lady Smith by S&W. It fits right in your hand, and it will deliver 6 rounds in about 2 seconds. If you ain’t hit it by then, then maybe you shouldn’t even be owning a pistol.

If I had any money (like $1,500 bucks), I’d get me one of them stainless steel, 8-shot .357 mag revolvers by S&W.

The nice thing about revolvers is that they don’t leave any shell casings lying about. And they’re as dependable as John Fucking Wayne.

P.S. Wollf: Them are some nice pieces you got there.

    Comment by Hog Whitman — July 3, 2012 @ 9:57 pm

  32. Hog, I’ll call you a lot of things. “Faggot” ain’t one of them. But I thought the LadySmith was a “J-frame” with five shots. If you wanted six shots of .38, you went for the Colt “Detective Special” if you didn’t mind things like the cylinder turning backwards.

Don’t know about 8-shot .357s. If 8 rounds of .357 won’t solve the problem, then maybe the problem can’t be solved. And I will freely admit that 5 rounds of .357 in a row is about all this candy-ass can handle. (Smith 640 / Ruger SP-101)

  34. rickn8or: I believe you’re right about them 5 shots. All I know is that my sister-in-law has one, and I want it, with that little laser deal on it.

    And I wouldn’t know a J-frame from an A-frame. But I’m ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille!

I did used to have this Walther PPK/S (.380) and it was a beautiful machine. Even chicks liked it. They liked to hold it and stroke it like it was some kind of Magic Wand©. And they also liked the pistol.

I had to hock it for food money once, and I forgot to go pick it up in time. Boy was my brother pissed that I didn’t sell it to him instead. He still gives me shit about it to this day (30-years-later).

I dated this blind girl once, and she said I had the biggest member she’d ever laid her hands on. And I said, “You’re pulling my leg”.

Heck, I remember this one time down in El Paso when the Cottonwoods was-a-bloomin’ and some people had allergies to it and… wait a sec… is this thing still on?

    Shit! Gotta go, for now…

  39. While I applaud Allen West’s speech, and I know very well how good Glocks are (I just own SIX of them) I would, because this is American and it is the FORTH of JULY, I’d recommend a 1911A1 or S&W .357. Preferably older ones without child locks.

Yes Colt “O” or Smith ‘K’ frames. I grew up with them and AMERICA is stamped on them.

Yes I know alot of 1911s are made in China, Philippines, Brazil, etc… but one can look around and fine a few, usually original Colts, that are stamped MADE IN AMERICA. S&Ws are already so stamped.

    P.S. I just picked up a S&W 629-2 Mountain Gun. .44 magnum 4 inch. Yes a ‘mans’ gun.

    God Bless America.

    God Bless America.

Paul: A few months ago a friend invited me to go out and shoot his new Savage .450 ‘Brush Gun’. To say that it packed a ‘whallop’ would be an understatement. This was not the kind of weapon that you wanted to spend a day at the range shooting for fun. A few rounds were sufficient. More than, as it turned out…

A few hours later he was in intensive care for a heart attack. After a triple by-pass, and a couple of weeks later, he was fine.

But I’m still not sure if I want to go shootin’ with him no more.

    And God Bless America again!

    Comment by SherryM — July 4, 2012 @ 6:00 pm

  45. My original carry piece in ’93 was Walter PPK/S, but that was in FL, and the steel frame was heavy and pulled my shorts down around my knees jumping onto the dock. Replaced that with a Colt Mustang Pocketlite .380 which became my polite-society gun. (The new Sig 238 is very similar.)

These shrouded-hammer S&W revolvers are almost perfect general-purpose carry pieces, if you can live with 5-rounds. The .38 is super-light, but the .357 is not significantly bulkier. Hey, if you can’t solve it with a .357mag, a handgun is not the solution.

For “Injun country,” I carried the Kimber 1911 until arthritis prevented my thumb from hitting the thumb safety reliably. Went to a double-action M&P 45. S&W just came out with the M&P Shield, a narrower and lighter, single-stack version in a .40. That’s my all-purpose carry piece, now (well, it will be as soon as I can find a decent holster for it).
