  1. Frankly, I have yet to see a consistent objective from this wacko lot. I liked the fact that the RATz endorsed them and then had to shovel their shit in a hole, followed by a memory loss. Their gathering are about 99% certifiable mentals and criminals and 1% communists….

I did learn of a new way to measure crowd feelings though. Fingers wiggling up or down!!!!!

  2. !!! The resemblance to DW-S is amazing !!!

By the way, Hot Air is running this piece:

Great news: Joe Biden hitting the campaign trail next week
    http://hotair.com/archives/2012/08/18/great-news-joe-biden-hitting-the-campaign-trail-next-week/

The best part is the headline, but anyway, my point in bringing it up is to caution Republican leaning folks about over expectation: you just can’t expect anyone, even Slow Joe to hit a foul ball out of the park every week.

Speaking on humor on the campaign trail, there’s this hysterical little item:
“Obama camp – We are intentionally limiting crowd size at rallies”
    http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/watercooler/2012/aug/18/obama-camp-we-are-intentionally-limiting-crowd-siz/

Yep, that’s their response to the crowds that Ryan is drawing — limiting the size of Dem crowd rallies.

It is absolutely amazing what someone can say with a straight face.

(DW-S being another perfectly good example of that last point.)

The Occutardz…. they don’t know what they are protesting, it just gives them something to do.
    Damn idiots.
If they thought about it, being *cough* professional protesters might be considered a job of sorts, only they don’t make any money at it.
That would REALLY scare the shit out of them!

If by “intentionally” they mean “I meant to do that” then yeah.

*heh* It’s like they don’t want to be accused of “unintentionally” limiting crowd sizes.
(What? No, not sure when a crowd officially becomes a smattering.)

  7. Doug 4: “…not sure when a crowd officially becomes a smattering.” Perhaps by November we will find out.

And for those skeptics who suppose that “nation-building” in Iraq isn’t going great, there is this:

Soldier who took buttocks from Saddam Hussein statue has charges against him dropped:
    http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/314037/law-culturally-significant-ass-mark-steyn

The police investigation cost tens of thousands of pounds … The case was a complete waste of police time….

See, those cute little Iraqis are getting westernized. Instead of focusing on the massive problems facing their country, rampant terrorism, and what amounts to their neighbor Iran turning Iraq into a free fire zone, they are using their legal machinery to chase the most frivolous matters possible, and do so at great expense.

Just like our “liberalized” legal system over here.

Plus the statue’s right buttock is still missing, which leads to:

I gather the elusive right buttock, cursed by a powerful imam to reign down death on any who try to tap its destructive powers, has been optioned by Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones And The Buttock Of Doom.

  11. THE SPINAL TAP PRESIDENCY:

ROB REINER: The last time Spinal Tap toured America, they were, uh, booked into 10,000 seat arenas, and 15,000 seat venues, and it seems that now, on their current tour they’re being booked into 1,200 seat arenas, 1,500 seat arenas, and uh I was just wondering, does this mean uh…the popularity of the group is waning?

BAND MANAGER DAVID AXELROD: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no…no, no, not at all. We have plenty of time for big stadium gigs. But our focus right now is on intentionally limiting crowds by restricting tickets – to allow the band to better connect with fans.

  15. Ironic (#10): Here’s the Newsweek piece (maybe they took some heat for the Romney/Wimp cover):

    Why Obama Needs to Go

    Some clips:
“… the president’s scorecard on every single one of those bold pledges is pitiful.”
“… since 2008, a staggering 3.6 million Americans have been added to Social Security’s disability insurance program. This is one of many ways unemployment is being concealed.”
“… nearly half the population is not represented on a taxable return—almost exactly the same proportion that lives in a household where at least one member receives some type of government benefit. We are becoming the 50–50 nation—half of us paying the taxes, the other half receiving the benefits.”
“Under this president’s policies, the debt is on course to approach 200 percent of GDP in 2037…”
“After all, it’s the president’s job to run the executive branch effectively—to lead the nation. And here is where his failure has been greatest.”
“Summers told Orszag, “because he doesn’t know what he’s deciding.”
“… failures of leadership on economic and fiscal policy over the past four years …”
[There's a section on his foreign policy failures:
Tokyo 2009; Cairo 2009; Iran, Syria, Libya]

“America under this president is a superpower in retreat”
“… he best case he has yet made for reelection is that Mitt Romney should not be president.”

“… unlike Obama, Ryan has a plan—as opposed to a narrative—for this country.”

The Newsweek site says there’s a rebuttal by Krugman, but it’s too soon after breakfast and too close to lunch for me to read that.

  17. ColJ, personally (as a serial doer of the same), I find the off-topics as interesting as anything else, and they also tend to broaden the coverage of the overall site.

Err: I might have just said, “It’s a bigger, brighter, broader porch when it’s built with extra lumber and not constructed according to any plan.” Whatever.

As to your post, my first impulse was to reply “WTF!!!!!!!!!!”

Not that this covers all your material, but it strikes me that, while this election is supposedly about the economy, whoever wins the election this fall is going to face far, far more than just the economy — particularly abroad.

To state the obvious, the last four years are like the Carter presidency in that the amount of stupid, naive, inept moves made by the present administration are going to come home to haunt not only the next administration, but everything for the next 50 years, assuming we have *have* a next 50 years.

(there is some chance that the next administration will be forced to be a foreign wars presidency…. just when we didn’t need it the most)

Not that making obvious observations about badly spilt milk help anything, other than to review the fact that if the current Fool in Chief is reelected, there will be pretty much no hope of repair. (I’d say that’s the case with a lot already.) So I doubt that there’s anyone around here who’s not fired up to see an administration change, but if there is, then ColJ’s list should do it.

In any case thanks for the post, off-topic or whatever. When I get back down off the ceiling and put out the fire in my hair, maybe I’ll look some of this up, although at the moment I am more inclined to hide in a cave and hope POTUS can further improve his golf game, since one can only presume that he thinks that will help with all this, and nearly half the American people still think he’s doing a good job*.

    http://heygirlitsjoebiden.tumblr.com/image/29555518249

Yeah, I know, the stupid half. If I were gay, I’d be happy to trade in that vacuous, half-harted endorsement of gay marriage, for a decent job and some reasonable hope that the world wasn’t going to self-destruct in the next 6 months.

    3. BiBI just published 3 routes of attack on Iran to blow up their Nukes? Israel has NEVER EVER announced airstrikes, publically, in advance! WTF?

Well, it’s my guess that he’s trying to brianfuck the Iranians into throwing in the towel, but if so, he’s brainfucking with the wrong set of fanatics.

Of course it’s possible that he published this for Obama’s benefit….

    Or that there’s a fourth attack route….

    Comment by Ironic in Denver — August 20, 2012 @ 10:32 am

  20. ^ Good to think there might be something.

I think my “4th route” remark was intended to be halfway ironic. While I lack expertise, I find the thought of the logistics and other problems facing significant Israeli air assault (at least without US support) on Iraq to be daunting.

    Comment by Ironic in Denver — August 20, 2012 @ 10:59 am

  21. COL Jerry (#16): Yeah, yeah, but outside of that, what’s there to worry about?

Here’s the link for your #9:

Former union boss: Goal of Occupy to overthrow capitalism and ‘build communism’

I don’t know how much of a “biggie” the “former Amalgamated Transit Union local 689 president Mike Golash” is, but he’s pretty direct:

“Progressive labor is a revolutionary communist organization,”

Hold on to that “progressive” thought.

“Golash recently retired from his job as a public transit bus driver.”

“Since its inception last September, the Occupy Wall Street movement has been endorsed by the Communist Party USA, the Chinese Communist Party, Islamists and white supremacist David Duke.

The organization has also received the blessing of many prominent Democrats, including Barack Obama, Joe Biden and DNC boss Debbie Wasserman Schultz.”

“An organization has to be built which can bring down capitalism,” [Golash] said.

A little more Off Topic: I finally figured out how to characterize Obama and Biden: the amateur and the fool.

  22. Meanwhile, the Democratic flight from recasting of reality continues with this nifty spin — Dem. Senator: Obama Led SEALs Mission to Kill Bin Laden

Yesterday, when introducing President Obama at a campaign event in New Hampshire, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat, said that the president “led the mission that brought Osama bin Laden to justice”:

On the other hand, it’s probably a good idea to let the Iranians know that not only will Israel keep Iran in check, but has the ability to hit real hard.

  32. IinD, (30), I also had a glimmer of a thought about BiBi wanting
to know about Mitt’s attitudes towards Isreal & the ME plus Iran.
I suspect the Israelis are monitoring our November vote closer
than most of us! BiBi’s latest announcement is most unusual
but they don’t make mistakes in these matters. I also suspect
that the Israelis may be mindfucking the Eye-rain-ians.

The latest announcement I’ve heard today is that Iran claims they
will have a nuke bomb by October. Years ago I read a couple of
mentions that the Israelis have or might have as many as 200
nukes. I also thought it was very desirable to ‘test’ your nukes
1st, to make sure they work, before you start flinging them at
your enemies! Then I was noticing how long it’s taken the Iranians
to process the uranium for their firstest bomb! Seems like it’s been
a long time. Meantime the Israelis with our ‘assistance’ are building
an awesome anti-ballistic missle system that should be in service
soon! Interesting times we live in! The last big war was ended with
nukes. The next war may be started with nukes!

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obama-campaign-was-trawling-warm-bodies-fill-half-empty-kick-rally_650295.html

  41. Here’s the latest in Biden humor:

Biden Looks Ahead to 2016 Election… Biden’s aides have been lobbying to have their guy deployed to key early primary states in order to jumpstart a potential presidential run in 2016.

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/biden-looks-ahead-2016-election_650281.html

They actually believe any party would ever willingly nominate him for a presidential run? Ever?
(I’m leaving alone the obvious point about complete lack electability.)

So, here’s my latest idea on how to balance the national budget: let the Federal Government start selling whatever kind of dope it is that’s getting smoked over there in the Biden camp. It will be a tremendous hit; revenues will be astronomical.

If SNL were doing its job, the Biden skits would be unending. Don’t know how they could ever top the real thing though….

    http://michellemalkin.com/2012/08/17/dems-paul-ryan-debate/

    Particularly quotable goodies include:

The debate between Biden and Ryan is scheduled for Oct. 11.
And we can’t wait. Although the veep aide who will be operating the Gaffe-Stoppr™ remote shock collar Biden will be wearing that night is reportedly pretty nervous.

Obama campaign chooses stand-in for Paul Ryan at VP debate practice… Biden really whipped faux-Ryan in the first practice debate, but don’t lend that much credence because I read it in a press pool report that was written by Joe Biden.

NBC’s Chuck Todd today called on the White House press corps to stop allowing the White House to edit their pool reports, following a report … noting that aides to Vice President Joe Biden had tried to edit the VP’s controversial remarks….

…. Think about it: The Biden we’ve been reading about in pool reports is the censored version.
