  5. On Capitol Hill, Republican Dennis Kucinich led a House Judiciary Committee panel discussion that demanded more transparency from president Obama on how his administration decides and carries out the targeted killing of suspected terrorists using drone aircraft, an increasing tactic in America’s war on terror.

How come I am the only one to notice KUCINICH the DENNIS listed here as a Republican? Is there a Kuchinich I don`t know about?

  6. It’s just the MFM and their vaunted layers of fact-checking, Colonel.

PS “Assault Weapons,” per military designation (which is a little vague and not often used), are weapons used to assault a position or structure. You know, grenade launchers or flamethrowers.

But as we know, there’s no place in a civilized society for guns. Civilized societies like the UK use knives and fists and broken bottles. Oh, and guns, but only the criminals have those!

Don’t suppose his anti-ugly/scawy-gun law will apply to bodyguards.
(What? Hey, some people are, like, wayy more important than peasants.)

  11. Yup boo hoo wipe my tears— his tear ducts are on the outside edge of his eyes. After that I couldn’t watch this lying SOB anymore. Poor guy was visibly shaken. (**)–
What’s it going to take? Will there be a straw on the camels back? Or is he/they going to get their way while we sit and take it? They think we’re so complacent we don’t give a shit about Hillary falling on her head and having a concussion so she doesn’t have to testify. I would think this gun control would have done it.

  12. Yeah, more gun control is what we need, since it keeps kids in Chicago so safe!

  14. Did some digging, posted this over Rodger’s place, comparing South Africa gun issues to the USA:
Now in South Africa, legal gun ownership is not easy – owning a gun is conditional on a competency test, background checking of the applicant, inspection of an owner’s premises, and licensing of the weapon by the police. Minimum waiting period frequently exceeds 2 years from date of application.
Yet their gun death statistics are pretty grim:
    Population ~50 million
    % blacks ~75-80% = 35-40 million
    total annual gun deaths ~42,000
    Gun deaths/100,000 – 59

    In ‘gun crazy’ USA
    Population ~310 million
    % blacks ~12% = 35-40 million
    total annual gun deaths ~10,728
Gun deaths/100,000 among black males ~28
    Gun deaths/100,000 overall ~3.5

See one correlation in the data?

Back to our southern paradise, South Africa
The incidence of rape in South Africa has led to the country being referred to as the “rape capital of the world”. One in three of the 4,000 women questioned by the Community of Information, Empowerment and Transparency said they had been raped in the past year. More than 25% of South African men questioned in a survey published by the Medical Research Council (MRC) in June 2009 admitted to rape; of those, nearly half said they had raped more than one person. Three out of four of those who had admitted rape indicated that they had attacked for the first time during their teens.

South Africa also has a high record of car hijackings when compared with other industrialized countries. A South African insurance company, Hollard Insurance, stated in 2007 that they would no longer insure Volkswagen Citi Golfs manufactured in the previous two years as they were one of the most frequently hijacked vehicles in South Africa.
Certain high-risk areas are marked with road signs indicating a high incidence of car hijackings within the locality.

    Guess where the problem is.
    Hint: It ain’t the guns.

I dunno – That stupid sack o’ suet Mikey Moore’s bodyguard the the dumb, and the law appears to apply to him…

    Comment by Justin Credible — December 18, 2012 @ 8:07 pm

  16. Justin, it appears NY doesn’t honor any permit but its’ own, just like Kommiefornia.

Seems like a really professional bodyguard would have checked that first. I can’t tell from the article if the bodyguard was actually carrying the weapon or trying to declare it in his checked luggage. There’s been more than one surprised traveler in NY or NJ when their plane got diverted due to weather, etc., claimed their luggage and promptly get hammered for unlawful possession of a weapon in their bags.

Hope this costs Mikey a metric fuckton of money to learn exactly what that Real Gun Control he wants so badly for the rest of us is like. Not that he wouldn’t cut the bodyguard loose in a heartbeat if he could get away with it.

  17. justin (#12): Somebody pointed out that there are about as many murders every week in Chicago as in Newhope. For some unexplained reason, nobody gets all up in arms (ooops) about that.

But here’s a simple exercize: go back and look at all the shooters who were involved in mass killings (here, in Norway, in Scotland, in China) and see if we can find any common traits. Let’s also include people who leave bombs laying around (like Obama’s friend Bill Ayers). I do think we can.

If so, let’s focus on treating that syndrome.
