  1. What’s stupider?
Herding innocent kids into gov’t-certified-defenseless zones (i.e. shooting preserves), that’s what.
(What? Well, yeah, granted, “dry up the supply” iiis pretty stupid.)

  3. To “dry up the supply of these weapons over time.” will only increase demand and raise the price.

    Comment by David — January 24, 2013 @ 12:14 pm

  4. Yeah, that’s what this country needs: a thriving black market in hand-held weapons.

  5. …Feinstein said the goal is to “dry up the supply of these weapons over time.”

Yeah, that Firearms Act of 1934 sure dried up civilian machine guns in one damn quick hurry…

  6. Yeah, look how magnificently Prohibition and the War on Drugs worked out.

  7. As much as I think there is a lot more to it, I’ve wondered if the reason ferderal agencies have been buying up millions of rounds of ammo is in part an attempt to prevent the sale of ammo to citizens. Instead of banning the stuff, you just buy all of it so people cant find any to buy.

Frankenstiens comment make me think that may be the path they’ll take for the guns as well.

  8. Obviously if something doesn’t work, you just need to do it *harder*.

Well, that’s what you think if you’re a leftist politician… look at how they do with budgets.

  9. bocopro,
I see your point very clearly, but facts and applying them logically are anathema to lying, hypocritical, statist asses like DiFi.
I’ve seen some remarks here and there that every one of those nut job murderers she decries were Dems or came from Dem families. If true, perhaps DiFi should gradually dry up the supply of her voters.

  10. The last school shooter got his guns from his mother.

    Let’s outlaw mothers.

About that ammo thing: do people still “roll their own”? I remember that not too long ago, it wasn’t that hard – at least for .22s.

Certainly some of you may recall the well-known “zip gun”. Not very accurate or sophisticated, but just as lethal.

  11. “We should be outraged at how easy it is” for attackers to get hold of the semi-automatic weapons or large-capacity magazines used in those slaughters, Feinstein said.

That doesn’t even make it onto the long version of my “outrage” list. Things that do, though:

I am outraged at how easy it is for an undocumented candidate to assume the highest executive office in the world.

I am outraged at how little integrity and curiosity the mainstream media has.

I am outraged at the equally un-curious, ignorant, and apathetic people who voted this administration to a second term.

I am outraged at Congress passing bills without knowing their content.

I am outraged that the same people who support abortion as an issue of personal control also support soda bans as a public health concern.

… too many more to list, really. :(

  14. My guess would be that a comprehensive in-depth analysis of the mass shooters over the past 30 years or so (once the true psychos such as Lanza or the religious fanatics such as Hasan are concerned) might show that the majority were liberals of varying degrees.

Right-wing extremists can be very dangerous, of course, but they don’t attack schools, just federal government buildings / agencies or abortion clinics, and generally with bombs, not “assault” rifles.

  15. And how many years have we TRIED to dry up the supply of drugs? Have we been successful?

What makes them think they can dry up the supply of the very thing most Americans consider a RIGHT?

Even the British still have ‘gun crime’ as well as a huge plain old crime rate, despite millions of CCTVs spying on everyone.
