  1. Thanks for the Fisher House link, Claire.
Yeah, and the other stuff, too.

  2. Surrender first, negotiations afterwards!

    That’s very important unimportant.

    Write that down.

  3. Boehner has been dying to bend over and spread ‘em since this started. Only the fact that the conservatives and libertarians have made it clear if he does so he loses the Speakership and all those nice perks that come with it has kept him from consummating the deal with Obama.

Meanwhile, out here in Flyover America, other than those who directly work for the feds, absolutely nobody has noticed that 20% or so of the federal workforce is off the clock. People are discovering just how little impact the federal government has on their day-to-day lives, other than as an irritant. This is the Governing Class’ worst nightmare.

Already the media is running about wringing its collective hands and trying to convince us that, “You need the government! Really! You do!” To their abject horror, outside of DNC focus groups, it’s not selling.

  4. So much for that movie, “Taking Chance” , about escorting a dead Marine home for burial…

That’s what I’m seeing, or, as I heard on the radio the other day “The roads are still here, the electricity is still on, no cool gangs to join — worst apocalypse eveh”

My son’s hunting buddy is a gubmint employee, enjoying his time off and out doing some scouting for deer season. He’s pretty sure he’ll get back pay when he’s called back. They have an office pool on when they’ll go back to work, but nobody willing to bet against the back pay–it’s a sure thing as far as they are concerned.

  6. That is just stupid. Considering that SECDEF decided that existing legislation was “good enough” to bring back his entire civilian workforce. The military pay act authorized military pay. Death gratuities ARE military pay. They are intentionally spreading pain where none needs to be. They are just being dicks because they can.

  7. Dear Leader has made it clear he will not negotiate with terrorists or extremists.

  8. the President is willing to negotiate with Republicans — after the threat of government shutdown and default have been removed – over policies that Republicans think would strengthen the country

So, “give me what I want and I’ll let you TALK to me later”?

Interesting “negotiation” tactic he has there.

Problem is he ain’t Bruce Willis.
