  3. During my all too plentiful contacts with the medical establishment over the past ~five years, what I’ve seen is precious medical minutes with my caregivers being eaten up by a constantly growing encroachment of clerical minutes, in which the poor docs wade through what is allowed to be treated how and what the @#$%^ insurance codes are for these conditions and treatments.

Fucking @#$% Uhbamacare requires EVERYTHING to be in a computer, yet because of the Privacy Act, yannow, the one that wastes three sheets of paper for every patient for every visit, the records are purged every month, or quarter, or year and The System wastes another half hour of MY time on this earth to fill out my lengthy medical history in the waiting room for the umpteenth time.
In self defense, I’ve built my own database in Excel, tracking lab work results, procedures, conditions, surgeries, and radiological work. I now demand a CD for all rad work, because too many of mine from years ago that would make a nice baseline have disappeared as doctors moved or retired, or the facility had a record purge.

One of these days, HHS employees drones are going to outnumber the patients and doctors in the private sector.
    Government IS the problem. Geddafugouttamylife.

  4. So a friend of mine has had many opportunities to interact with the healthcare system during the last couple of years, on account of her husband’s multiple health issues. A little typo in one document caused her name to be mutated from “Ellen” to “Allen”, and so the gastroenterology people were under the impression that her husband’s partner was a guy. Considering where we live, it would not be an unrealistic assumption to make. She said she got it corrected, though they did look at her funny at first, like they were trying to figure out whether she might be a tranny or something. Record sharing is not perfect; the original information may still be floating around somewhere uncorrected.
