  5. My favorite thanksgiving activity is loading all the leftovers into the fridge to be enjoyed for the next few days.
    What? No, the leftover Bourbon goes into the freezer.
    The leftover family goes to the driveway. I don’t know where it goes from there.

I’m thankful that my ancestors at that feast (Stephen Hopkins, a hired ops staffer, not a Pilgrim, and teenage daughter Constance) had the wisdom to rid themselves of the Pilgrims’ original collectivist fantasy, so they could survive the following winters. Reckon everybody, locals included, learned a lot that first few years. I even have a chief’s-head meerschaum pipe to remember their tobacco by.
